Rio Tinto Coal Australia's thermal coal product is sourced from our Blair Athol and Clermont mines, located north of the town of Clermont in Queensland's Bowen Basin.

Thermal coal is a clean, cost effective primary energy source for generating electricity upon which all modern communities depend.

Coal from Blair Athol and Clermont mines is transported 280km to the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal where it is loaded onto ships destined for the major thermal coal markets.
