The Kestrel Mine Community development Fund addresses critical issues determined through Community Needs Assessments and Opinion Leader Survey work from key stakeholders in the region around the operation. These issues are:
Reducing unemployment
Developing a skilled labour force
Attracting new business
Diversity of industry.
Aplicants are those who:
- Can demonstrate the capacity to make effective use of the funds
- Are willing and able to subject the project to performance measures that focus on outcomes
- Can work in partnership with the Fund and the business.
Support from the Fund may be the sole source of funding, however applicants are encouraged to seek funds from a number of sources, such as joint arrangements with government or private funding bodies.
Applicants should also identify the availability of funds or in-kind support for the proposal within their organisation or group.
Fund monies will not be allocated to:
- Private companies seeking finance for their own business activities
- Proposals targeted solely for capital works
- Individuals wanting to finance endeavours solely for personal gain
- Government bodies whose projects are traditionally funded by government.
Closing dates for applications will be advertised through local newspapers and company newsletters.
In completing the application form, applicants must detail how the project will meet the aims of the Fund, how they will measure its success and how the project will be undertaken.
