Community contributions

Rio Tinto Coal Australia's community development funds address critical issues determined through consultation with local communities surrounding our operations.

2006 was the first year of operation for the Hail Creek Mine Community Development Fund, covering the communities of Mackay, Mirani, Sarina and Nebo. The Fund works in partnership with local groups to help develop the social, economic and environmental prosperity of the region.
