Hail Creek Mine congratulates award winning trainee
Hail Creek Mine has congratulated an Indigenous trainee for winning the Trainee of the Year award at a recent Mackay Area Industry Network (MAIN) presentation.
Nikita Sauney has been participating in the Wiri Traineeship programme, developed and funded by Hail Creek Mine and managed by MAIN, which provides employment and training opportunities for the Wiri people - the Traditional Owners of the Land upon which Hail Creek Mine operates.
Ms Sauney thanked Hail Creek Mine and MAIN and encouraged other members of the Wiri community to make the most of the opportunities available.
"The Wiri Traineeship programme has allowed me to develop my skills and knowledge by undertaking a certificate three in business administration," said Ms Sauney, who completes her 12 month traineeship with MACS Engineering in April.
"I've learnt so much over the past few months, fuelling my ambition to go further in my career and continue to look for development opportunities.
"I would certainly encourage other young Wiri people to make the most of the wonderful opportunities available through programmes like these and I thank Hail Creek Mine and MAIN for their ongoing support."
Hail Creek Mine Aboriginal Relations Senior Advisor Richard Savage said he was delighted to see Nikita and Talia Alberts, who received a certificate of achievement, doing so well.
"We are very proud of Nikita and Talia, who have worked very hard throughout their traineeships," Mr Savage said.
"Given the success of the Wiri Traineeship programme, Hail Creek Mine and MAIN have decided to offer it again. We look forward to continuing to provide sustainable employment and training opportunities to the Wiri people in 2008."
