Our graduate development programme is designed to unearth the true potential of qualified young professionals who have the capability to fill future technical and management leadership roles within Rio Tinto Coal Australia and the wider Rio Tinto Group.  The graduate programme offers valuable professional and personal development opportunities through on-the-job experience.

Traineeships and apprenticeships

Rio Tinto Coal Australia is committed to providing training and employment opportunities to allow young people the opportunity to start their careers on the right foot.  Our sites and Brisbane office offer apprentice and trainee positions in an extensive range of areas including mechanical fitting, metal fabrications, electrical, automotive and business administration. 

Indigenous employment

As part of our commitment to supporting our local communities and to building constructive relationships with our Aboriginal communities, Rio Tinto Coal Australia has developed an Indigenous Employment Strategy to encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to join our organisation.  The strategy aims to encourage Indigenous applicants by assisting them through the application process and providing culturally appropriate recruitment support.
